Crash Victim Nets £90,000

A motorist who was seriously injured in a head-on collision has been awarded £90,000 in compensation.

Chris Chambers, 34, who worked as a police administrator, was driving on Christmas Eve 1999 when a car travelling in the opposite direction crossed to the same side of the carriageway and hit his car head-on.

Mr Chambers was trapped inside his car for several hours and had to be cut free from the wreckage by the emergency services. In the crash, he suffered fractures to his forearm, left wrist and right leg along with serious injuries to chest ligaments and multiple minor injuries.

Due to the severity of his injuries, Mr Chambers was in hospital over Christmas and into the New Year. Since then, he has had to have multiple operations and is still undergoing long-term rehabilitation.

Mr Chambers received £90,000 in compensation. The driver of the other car was convicted of driving without due care and attention and was fined.
